Dr. Stephanie Dowd

Dr. Stephanie Dowd, PsyD

Stephanie Dowd, PsyD, is a clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders in adolescents and adults. Dr. Dowd provides evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), parent management training, cognitive processing therapy, and exposure-response prevention to help her clients improve their lives.

Dr. Dowd earned her doctorate in Clinical and School Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University. She completed her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco and her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the College of the Holy Cross. She did her pre-doctoral internship at New York Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Dowd has been intensively trained in DBT through Behavioral Tech and is a Certified DBT Clinician, as approved by the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification.

Most recently, Dr. Dowd has served as co-director and senior psychologist at Behavioral Psych Studio in New York City. Before that,  Dr. Dowd held a position as a clinical psychologist at the Mood Disorders Center at the Child Mind Institute in NYC and Assistant Director at a private practice in New Jersey. Dr. Dowd has been published in Psychiatry Research and has presented at international conferences on topics such as DBT, mindfulness, and family therapy. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and the Massachusetts Psychological Association. Dr. Dowd has been featured in media publications, including US News and World Report, Teen Vogue, Buzz Feed, and Real Simple, and has appeared on Good Morning America.

Being born and raised in Maine, but having lived in San Francisco, Boston and New York City over the last 25 years, she is happy to be back in New England where she feels most at home. She is a proud mama to her two children.

Olivia Mussafer, MA,

Staff Therapist

Olivia Mussafer, MA, received her master’s degree in mental health counseling and wellness from New York University. She received her bachelor’s degree from Duke University with a major in psychology, a minor in education, and a certificate in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Olivia completed her mental health counseling internship at Behavioral Psych Studio in New York City where she provided DBT and CBT to adolescents and young adults facing emotion regulation difficulties, depression, anxiety, and OCD. While interning, Olivia co-led a weekly multi-family DBT skills group for adolescents and their families. While Olivia has a wide range of experience, Olivia is most passionate about working with teenagers and young adults living with anxiety and depression.

Prior to pursuing her degree in mental health counseling, Olivia was an early childhood educator in New York City. During her time as a teacher, she earned her master’s in early childhood education from Relay Graduate School of Education. Olivia’s experience working with families during the COVID-19 pandemic strengthened her passion for fostering individuals’ social-emotional skills. In addition, Olivia has served as a volunteer with Samaritans, a suicide prevention helpline, where she provided support for individuals over the phone and via a chatline. 

Outside of work, Olivia enjoys exploring the outdoors and spending time with her family. She has two young nieces who live in her hometown, Boston, whom she loves to visit. She currently lives in New York City and can often be found reading in Central Park or going on long runs.
